Emergency release date: After several delays, actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut's much-anticipated film 'Emergency' is finally slated to release on September 6. The announcement was made on Tuesday via Ranaut's Instagram, where she also unveiled a new poster for the film.

Initially postponed due to Ranaut's involvement in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 elections, the film has generated significant buzz.  Talking about the film, Kangana said: "I am deeply inspired by William Shakespeare's Macbeth, the essence of 'Emergency' is the destruction wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints. It is undoubtedly the most sensational chapter of Indian democracy, and I am eagerly awaiting its worldwide release on September 6, 2024.”

'Emergency' delves into the tumultuous period in Indian history when then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency in 1975, a period that lasted for 21 months and was marked by significant political and social upheaval. Kangana Ranaut stars as Indira Gandhi, bringing to life the complexities of the former Prime Minister’s persona and decisions. 


The film boasts a star-studded cast including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and the late Satish Kaushik. It is produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, with music by Sanchit Balhara and screenplay and dialogue penned by Ritesh Shah.
