Wife Beater Case: After Losing Legal Battle, Johnny Depp Asked To RESIGN From ‘Fantastic Beasts’; Here’s How The Actor Reacted
Depp took to his social media recently and informed that Warner Bros has asked him to resign from his role as ‘Grindelwald’ in the ‘Harry Potter’ spinoff franchise ‘Fantastic Beasts’.
New Delhi: Regarded as one of the most notable names in Hollywood, John Christopher Depp or Johnny Depp is famous for his roles in movies like ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and many others. A few days back, the news of the actor losing the ‘wife beater’ case came out where the London High Court ruled out against the star.

Now, Depp took to his social media recently and informed that Warner Bros has asked him to resign from his role as ‘Grindelwald’ in the ‘Harry Potter’ spinoff franchise ‘Fantastic Beasts’. Jonny Depp said in a statement, “In light of recent events, I would like to make the following short statement. Firstly, I’d like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty. I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days.”
He continued, “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request.”
Depp concluded his statement, “Finally, I wish to say this. The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”
Warner Bros also said in a statement, “Johnny Depp will depart the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date. Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The film will debut in theaters worldwide in the summer of 2022.”
Johnny Depp joined the ‘Harry Potter’ spinoff franchise with the 2016 movie ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ in the role of ‘Grindelwald’. He was expected to reprise the role in the third instalment of the film which is slated to release worldwide in 2022.
