New Delhi: After being postponed for a week from its initial release date of March 7, the highly anticipated action thriller 'The Diplomat', starring John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb, finally made its theatrical debut on March 14. The movie, which debuted on the same day as the Holi celebrations, has received mixed reviews at the box office and made a respectable amount of money.

Sacnilk, a trading website, reports that 'The Diplomat' made Rs. 4.03 crore on its first day of release. The holiday season probably had an impact on the movie's single digit earning. Still, there are great hopes for development over the weekend.

With evening and night shows contributing to larger turnouts of 28% and 26%, respectively, the movie's opening-day occupancy was registered at 20%.

'The Diplomat', John Abraham's most recent big-screen production, has had unimpressive box office results when compared to his other works. 'Satyameva Jayate', his last significant solo film, with a robust opening day revenue of Rs 19 crore in 2018. This makes The Diplomat's performance seem less impressive, especially since it's his first release in more than ten years.

Prior to Salman Khan's Sikandar's release around Eid, the film must make the most of its box office potential. Currently, John Abraham’s film is competing with Vicky Kaushal's ‘Chhaava’.
