New Delhi: Those who have seen Jawan can't help but be affected by Sanya Malhotra's track in the film. She portrays a doctor who attempts to address an oxygen shortage at a government hospital that causes the deaths of 63 children, but she is imprisoned after the government has her detained for failing to do her official duties. As an allusion to Dr. Kafeel Khan's fate in the 2017 Gorakhpur hospital tragedy, it appears that director Atlee has borrowed a page from actual life. Kafeel has now expressed his gratitude to Shah Rukh Khan, the actor-producer, and acknowledged the same.

On Saturday, Dr. Kafeel Khan recorded a video on X (previously Twitter) thanking the filmmakers of Jawan for portraying an occurrence similar to the one he experienced. He made it clear that he hasn't seen the movie yet, but he's been receiving messages and well wishes on the same since its release.

Kafeel wrote in Hindi, “I haven't seen Jawan but people have been messaging me saying they missed you (namaste emoji) There is a lot of difference between the film world and real life. The culprits in the army, health minister etc. get punished But here I and those 81 families are still wandering for justice (sad and prayer emojis) Thank you @iamsrk sir and @Atlee_dir sir for raising the social issue (thumbs up emoji).”

About Dr. Kafeel Khan

Doctor and former lecturer Dr. Kafeel worked at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Gorakhpur. He made every effort to alert the authorities to the situation when he learned that the government hospital's oxygen supply had been turned off because of unpaid fees. When they were unable to deliver, he was able to buy oxygen at his own expense. However, 63 children died of acute encephalitis syndrome in the interim. Later, the Uttar Pradesh government refuted the claim that there was an oxygen shortage and instead imprisoned Kafeel for neglect of duty.
