Ishq, Mohobbat Milta Hi Nahi Hai: Sara Ali Khan On Her Love Life
Sara Ali Khan, who made her Bollywood acting debut with 'Kedarnath', has often been questioned over nepotism.
ABP Network Ideas Of India 2023: Sara Ali Khan, who made her Bollywood acting debut in the romantic drama 'Kedarnath' opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, has often been questioned over nepotism. At the Representing the New Gen session of the second edition of ABP Network Ideas of India, the actor once more addressed the debate. The starlet has been at the heart of the heated issue because she is the daughter of well-known actor Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. She does, however, acknowledge that outsiders experience much greater hardships on their journey than any star kid.
Sara Ali Khan On The Nepotism Debate
The actor was aksed if star kids have it easy in teh industry than the outsiders, who struggle to get their one break. Sara responded to the question on nepo kids by stating that she is aware of her position and the privilege. "Jo cheezein hum control nahi kar sakte, unke baare mein zyada socha, charcha karna, ya gaur karna bilkul faydemand nahi hai. Ab main badal nahi sakti ki mere mata pita kon hai. Meri koshish yehi rahegi ki main apna astitva khud bana sakun. Par main bhaag nahi sakti apne naam se aur bhaagna chahti bhi nahi hun. Bas ye koshish hai ki logon ko mera kaam acha lage aur wo mujhe eventually ek individual ke naate bhi dekhe (We should not think about, discuss, or pay attention to things that we can’t control. This is not beneficial. I can’t change who my parents are. I will try to develop my individual identity. I can’t run away from my name, and I don’t even want to. I just want people to like my work and eventually see me as an individual)," Sara Ali Khan said.
She further added that she is "grateful" and "aware" of her privilege.
The actor also asserted that after her performance the audience has began to see her just as Sara. "People started seeing me as an individual after Simba and Kedarnath," she added.
Fans Before Anything Else
Sara, who is still quite new to the industry, claimed that it is the love an actor gets from their fans matters to them the most. She asserted that her parents are proud of her work and she always tries to make them proud but audiences' opinions is equally important.
"Janta ka pyaar sabse jaruri hai. Hum jo bhi karte hain janta ke liye karte hain. Unke pyaar ke bina hum kuch nahi hain. So they [her parents] remind me everyday that we will be proud of you no matter what, you have to seek the love of the audience (The love of the fans is most important. Everything we do is for them. We are nothing without their love)," she said.
Speaking on the performance that his parents found admirable, she said,"Jaise mere father ne mujhe call kiya tha Atrangi Re dekhne ke baad and he said ki ‘I loved you so much that I started crying’. Of course, mujhe bohot garv hua (My father called me after watching Atrangi Re and said, ‘I loved you so much that I started crying’. Of course, I felt proud)," Sara revealed.
Tackling Trolls And More
During the session, the actor, who has often been a target of online trolls, talked about the social media culture and what she thinks of it. "Main samjhti hun kiss prakar ki trolling ko mahatwa dena chahiye. Agar aapki rai meri gym ke kapdo par hain, mere vishwas pe rai hai ya meri soch pe rai hai toh I don’t care. Lekin aapko agar mere kaam pe rai hai toh I care, because I work for you. Janta ko agar main achi nahi lagti hun ya mera kaam acha nahi lagta hai toh usse mujhe problem hai. Wo mujhe sudharna jaruri hai. (I understand that this kind of trolling should be taken seriously. If you have an opinion about my gym wear, my beliefs, or my point of view, I don’t care. But if you have an opinion about my work, then I care because I work for you. If the audience doesn’t like me or my work, then I would have a problem. I need to improve that)," she said.
On Her Dating Life
Lastly, the actor spoke on her own dating life when requested to recite a couplet on love. "Ye ishq, mohobbat milta hi nahi hai. Main dimaag itna lagati hun shayad isiliye nahi milta. Dimaag na lagaun toh ye ishq, mohobbat, shayari ho jaaye humse. (I can’t find love. I put too many thoughts into it maybe that’s the reason. If I don’t do that, then I might find love)," she said.
