New Delhi: On the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day today, Films Division will join the nation in the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav reportedly. As a part of the celebration, a film festival is being organised where documentaries on freedom fighters and struggles will be showcased, read a report of AIR.


To commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, the Government of India initiated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This celebration will bring forward the glorious history that our country holds and will showcase its culture, people and achievements.

According to a report of AIR, the Film Festival which is being organised at the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will showcase 20 documentaries based on freedom struggles and fighters. The report added, “Select documentaries on watershed moments in the freedom struggle starting with India’s first war of independence in 1857, dawn of Gandhian era, call for  Purna Swaraj,  the great Salt March, Kala Paani and on merger of princely states after independence will be screened in the festival.”


The documentaries will be screened on the Films Division website and YouTube channel from August 15 – August 17, 2021.


Meanwhile, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, new movies like Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’, Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Shershaah’ can also be added to the binge-watch list. Akshay Kumar’s spy thriller movie ‘Bell Bottom’ which is based on real-life hijacking events in India, will also release in theatres on August 19, 2021.
