New Delhi: Megastar Chiranjeevi was named the Indian Film Personality of the Year at the opening of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, made the announcement at the film festival. 
 
The actor took to Twitter to express gratitude for the honour. "Greatly Delighted and Humbled at this honour, Sri @ianuragthakur! My deep gratitude to Govt of India @MIB_India @IFFIGoa @Anurag_Office and all my loving fans only because of whom i am here today!" the actor tweeted. 



Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the megastar on Twitter and wrote about his rich body of work. 


“Chiranjeevi Garu is remarkable. His rich work, diverse roles and wonderful nature have endeared him to film lovers across generations. Congratulations to him on being conferred the Indian Film Personality of the Year at @IFFIGoa @KChiruTweets,” he tweeted.



Earlier, Anurag Thakur had tweeted: "Sh Chiranjeevi Ji has had an illustrious career spanning almost four decades, w/over 150 films as an actor, dancer & producer. He is immensely popular in Telegu Cinema w/ incredible performances touching hearts! Congratulations @KChiruTweets!" 



In a career spanning nearly four decades, Chiranjeevi has acted in more than 150 films, primarily in the Telugu film industry. 


He made his acting debut with the 1978 film Punadhirallu. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including 10 Filmfare awards, 4 Nandi awards and Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award.   


Chiranjeevi was last seen in ‘Godfather’ which is an official adaptation of the Malayalam blockbuster film Lucifer. Both films star Chiranjeevi. The film did very well at the box office. 


The megastar’s next projects are ‘Waltair Veerayya’, co-starring Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan. The movie will release on the occasion of Sankranthi, January 11. He will also be seen in ‘Bhola Shankar’ with Tamannaah and Keerthy Suresh. It is slated to release in April 2023.
