New Delhi: Boney Kapoor and late Sridevi’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for the release of her Bollywood debut film- Dhadak. The romantic drama which stars Ishaan Khatter opposite Janhvi is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shashank Khaitan. The much-awaited film is the Hindi remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat.


Bollywood Chandni’s Sridevi was eagerly waiting to see her daughter on the silver screen but fate had something else in store for her. The English Winglish actress passed away months before Dhadak’s release.

Daddy Boney Kapoor in an recent interview with film critic Subhash K Jha revealed that Sridevi had seen rushes of Dhadak before going to Dubai for Mohit Marwah’s wedding. He also told Jha that he is proud that his daughter hasn’t followed her mother and has chosen to have her own style of acting.

“I am especially proud of the fact that my daughter hasn’t copied her mother (actress Sridevi). Even though she hero-worships Sri, Janhvi has chosen to follow her own style of acting. In fact, just before we left for Dubai (where Sridevi passed away) we saw rushes of Dhadak, and Sri was relieved to see that Janhvi was not influenced by her in terms of acting style,” Boney was quoted as saying by Subhash K Jha.


Sridevi recently bagged the Best Actress Award at IIFA 2018 for her brillaint performance in Mom. “I wish this had happened in her presence,’’ an emotional Boney Kapoor said.

The Mr. India producer accepted the award at IIFA on behalf of her late wife. Kapoor had got emotional back then and tears ran down from his cheeks.

Talking about Dhadak, the film’s trailer has received a massive response on YouTube and Facebook. The sizzling chemistry of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter is evident in Dhadak’s trailer and has increased anticipation among the audience.

Dhadak, which is based against the backdrop of Rajasthan, is slated to release on July 20.
