New Delhi: Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar introduced three young and budding actors Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in Student of the Year in 2012. The film proved to be a successful launching pad for the three actors, who have now gone on to become stars in their own right.


Taking the SOTY franchise ahead, Tiger Shroff, Anany Panday and Tara Sutaria will now take the baton from their seniors in Student of the Year 2. The romantic comedy drama film will be helmed by Puneet Malhotra, who directed I Hate Luv Stories and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

In what we can call as an amazing news, KJo’s first batch of SOTY- Alia, Varun and Sidharth will shoot for a special song for the second installment, as per a report in a leading daily.

''The film’s makers want to shoot the song, which will feature the trio in the opening credits, on a large canvas. They are yet to take a call on whether they should shoot in Delhi, Pune or Mumbai. It will be shot either in a stadium or on a lavish set. This song will mark the beginning of the sequel and will see SOTY’s lead actors, Varun, Alia and Sid, passing the baton to the new batch of students,'' a source told DNA.

Interestingly, the male lead Tiger Shroff will feature in the song, the report said. It is yet to be seen if the female leads Ananya and Tara will be seen in the special song or not.


The cast and crew of Student of the Year 2 have completed their shooting schedules in Dehradun and Pune and the makers are now looking to finalise the location for the final schedule, as per the report in the leading daily. The team of SOTY 2 will commence shooting for the climax by mid-July , the report added.

Student of the Year 2, which also stars Samir Soni, is slated to hit the silver screens on November 23, 2018.
