New Delhi: 'Gadar 2', starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has won over fans and upheld the stellar track record of the first film. Since its August 11 release, the sequel's reception at the domestic box office has been phenomenal. According to Sacnilk.com, the movie made Rs 32 crore on Saturday.
'Gadar 2' reportedly earned Rs 284.63 crore in its first week of business, according to Sacnilk.com. Early estimates indicate that the movie earned Rs 32 crore net in India on its second Saturday, August 19, day 9. The movie has so far made a total of 336.13 crore at domestic box offices.
Sunny Deol has expressed disbelief at the reception he and 'Gadar 2' have gotten. “I am indeed very happy. When we did the second part of Gadar, we never knew it would be so loved by the audience. Two whole generations have gone by since we did the first Gadar. And still, people are as excited as they were the first time. I am amazed and very very happy. We need some hits to keep the film industry on its feet,” Sunny told Times Now.
'Gadar 2', directed by Anil Sharma, features Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel as its main actors. The 1947 partition of India was the time period in which the movie was set. The film is a sequel to the popular movie 'Gadar', which premiered in theatres in 2001. Ameesha Patel played Sakeena in the first movie, and Sunny Deol portrayed Tara Singh, a truck driver.
In the sequel, Tara Singh is seen crossing the border in a risky attempt to free his son, Utkarsh Sharma, who is being held captive in Pakistan.
Along with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, other notable actors in the cast include Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Mir Sarwar, Rohit Choudhary, and Rakesh Bedi.
