Farhan Akhtar Pens Heartfelt Post As 'Toofan' Becomes Amazon Prime Video's Most Watched Film In Opening Week

Farhan Akhtar starrer 'Toofan' became the most-watched Hindi film on Amazon Prime Video within the first week of release.

Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Toofan’, which premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video on July 16, has emerged as the most-watched film on the streaming giant in its opening week. The leading OTT platform revealed the films and web series which performed quite well and managed to grab maximum eyeballs within launch week.

‘Toofan’, which has been directed by Rakesysh Omprakash Mehra, topped the charts as it became the most watched Hindi within the first week of release. The sports drama was viewed by more customers on Amazon Prime Video than other Hindi films in the first week.  

‘Toofan’, which was originally slated to hit the silver screens in October 2020, was watched in over 3,900 plus cities and towns in India. People from over 160 countries also viewed the film on the OTT platform. 

Farhan Akhtar, who was seen as Aziz Ali in ‘Toofan’, expressed his gratitude towards the audience by sharing a heartfelt post. He thanked his fans for making his new release the most-watched movie on Amazon Prime Video. 

One must work hard regardless of reward but when it comes, it’s important to recognise those who made it happen. Thank you for making #Toofaan the most watched film on Amazon Prime Video,” he wrote. 

'Toofan', which focused on the story of a goon-turned boxer, also starred Paresh Rawal, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Raaz, Supriya Pathak, Sonali Kulkarni in key roles. Farhan teamed up with Rakeysh for the second time after their successful collaboration in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'.

Amazon Prime Video will also premiere Karan Johar’s ‘Shershaah’ on August 13, 2021. The movie starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani is touted as one of the biggest releases on the OTT platform. Last month, Vidya Balan starrer ‘Sherni’ premiered on the streaming giant. The drama film managed to create ripples upon its release, courtesy Balan’s power-packed performance and interesting storyline.
