'An Actor Par Excellence': Ekta Kapoor Lauds Kangana Ranaut's Performance In 'Thalaivii'

Ekta Kapoor shared a heartfelt post to praise Kangana Ranaut's power-packed performance in 'Thalaivii'.

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Thalaivi’ has managed to earn critical acclaim upon its release in the theatres. The biographical drama, which has been directed by A.L. Vijay, arrived in the cinema halls on September 10. The critics have lauded Kangana for playing for the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa with perfection.  

Ekta Kapoor, who worked with Kangana in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ and ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’, shared a long post to praise the ‘Panga’ actress for her impressive performance. The TV Czarina called Kangana an ‘actor par excellence’ in her heartfelt post. 

“This is a post that’s coming out of an overwhelmed me. Saw Thalaivii last night and am stunned by the magnitude of scale, perfection, the detailing and the nuanced performances. Director Vijay has brought out the best in every character. Arvind Swamy, Raj Arjun, Madhoo have excelled in their performances. The wizard of words Rajat Arora delivers a clap trap. The perfect ode to Jaya Lalitha,” Ekta wrote on Instagram. 

“Finally Kangna Ranaut - An actor par excellence. A league of her own Kangana is probably one of the few actors who not only gets into the skin of the character but takes the effort to physically transform herself with every role she plays. At no point do you feel this is not Jaya herself. Kangna has perfected every aspect of the era from the physical appearance, voice modulation, to feeling the humiliation that Jaya Lalitha felt and striking back. Kangna makes this film probably one of the most watchable experiences of the year. So happy my friend to know an actor like you. Thalaivii is a must watch !!!,” she added.

Despite receiving critical acclaim, ‘Thalaivii’ couldn’t set the cash registers jingling due to several reasons. Many national multiplexes have decided to not screen the film due to a two-week gap between the theatrical release and digital release. Cinema halls in Maharashtra, which is a major contributor to theatrical business, are yet to re-open. 

‘Thalaivii’ will soon be available for streaming on leading OTT platforms. While the Hindi version will premiere on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights for the Tamil and Telugu version.
