New Delhi: Actor Dhanush said Monday he and his wife Aishwaryaa Rajnikanth, the elder daughter of veteran actor Rajinikanth, have decided to part ways after 18 years of marriage. Dhanush took to social media to announce their separation.
"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other..The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting...Today we stand at a place where our paths separate...Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better," Dhanush tweeted in his message.
"Please respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivayaa. Spread Love," it further said.

Aishwaryaa shared the same post from her Instagram handle and posted: "No caption needed…only your understanding n your love necessary!"
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa tied the knot on November 18, 2004. They are parents of two sons — Yatra and Linga. Dhanush is the son of producer Kasthuri Raja. The two got married when Dhanush was 21, and Aishwarya 23.
Dhanush has won the National Award four times. He last bagged the award for his 2019 film Asuran.
Dhanush was last seen in director Aanand L Rai's Hindi film Atrangi Re, which released on Disney+Hotstar in December 2021. The film also starred Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan.
