"The only way ahead, is together! #StaySafeStayHealthy," Ekta Kapoor tweeted.
New Khan: The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to a standstill, forcing the people to stay at home. PM Narendra Modi imposed a 21-day nationwide lockdown to combat the spread of COVID-19. The daily wage earners across different avenues have been badly hit by the lockdown as they are left without any job. Several Bollywood celebs including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have come forward to extend financial help to the industry workers affected due to the lockdown.
TV Czarina Ekta Kapoor took to social media to announce that she will forgo her one year’s salary at Balaji Telefilms so that her co-workers don’t take a hit during the Coronavirus lockdown.
“The impact of CORONA crisis is huge, unprecedented and multi pronged. We all need to do things that will ease the hardship of people around us and of our country at large. It is my first & foremost responsibility to take care of the various freelancers & daily wage workers who work at Balaji & who are going to suffer immense loss due to no shootings in the current scenario and uncertainty over the indefinite period to follow. I would thus forsake my one year’s salary that is 2.5 crores at Balaji Telefilms so that my co-workers don’t have to take a hit during this period of crisis and complete lockdown. The only way ahead, is Together. Stay safe, stay healthy,” Ekta said in a statement.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has pledged support to the PM-CARES Fund and other government relief funds. King Khan also announced a series of initiatives to help the underprivileged section of the society during the crucial times. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan have also donated to the government relief fund to support the fight against Coronavirus.
