New Delhi: Bollywood actor Vishal Anand popularly known for his roles in ‘Chalte Chalte’ (1976), ‘Taxi Driver’ (1973) and others have passed away at the age of 82 due to prolonged illness. The actor left for his heavenly abode on Sunday (October 4) and nephew Purab Kohli issued a statement on behalf of the family while exclusively talking to ABP News.

Vishal Anand not only played the role of the hero in the movie 'Chalte Chalte', but also was the producer of the film. The movie starred Simi Garewal in the female lead and through this film, Vishal Anand gave Bappi Lahiri a break in Bollywood as a music director. His real name was Bhisham Kohli and he did not get any significant success in the Hindi film industry, Vishal appeared in 11 films in total.

When ABP News tried to get contact the late actor’s family for detailed information, they confirmed the news of his death but declined to say anything more citing privacy as the reason.

ABP News then came in contact with the ‘London Confidential’ actor Purab Kohli, who is the nephew of the ‘Chalte Chalte’ actor who issued a statement on behalf of the family.

The statement read, “Bhishma Kohli, popularly known as Vishal Anand died on 04 October 2020. He was 82 years old and his health was deteriorating for the last several months. We would like to remember him through the superhit song 'Chalte Chalte' released in 1976. Our prayers are with him and we wish that his soul may rest in peace.”
