‘I Stand Corrected’: Anupam Kher Tweets After Pakistani Singer Flags His Post On Kids' Band
Pakistani singer Shehzad Roy took to Twitter to respond to a viral video posted by Kher and offered a ‘humble correction’.
New Delhi: Actor Anupam Kher had last week shared a video of some children from a rural background who had formed a ‘band’ performing instrumental music using tin cans and containers.
"Some children in a village in India have formed their own band. This band does not have any modern instruments. And what a tune they have chosen to play — of the military band," he posted on Twitter, sharing the video. In his tweet, he also sought to know where were these kids from.
The video had gone quite viral with over 1,400 retweets and more than 13,000 likes.
Many users had, however, replied to the tweet claiming that the children were not from India, but Pakistan.
On Friday, Pakistani singer Shehzad Roy also took to Twitter to respond to Kher’s post and offered a “humble correction”, saying the children were indeed from Pakistan.
He also told the veteran Indian actor that he was in touch with the kids and had sent them “all the musical instruments they need”.
"Thanks for sharing the video I shared a few days back. You say that these talented kids are from Bharat, a humble correction, these kids are in fact from Hunza, Pakistan. I am in touch with them and have sent them all the musical instruments they need," he posted.
Turns out, the video was originally shared by Roy on August 11. Praising the children’s talent and seeking to know their whereabouts, he had offered to send them real musical instruments. "Please somebody tell me where are these kids and I’ll give them all the instruments they need," Roy had posted on Instagram.
Roy's followers had then informed him that the children were from Hunza in Pakistan.
Kher acknowledged Roy’s post, and in a quote-tweet praised him for his work.
“I stand corrected my friend. I loved the video. Keep up the great work you are doing with these kids!! Love and prayers always!!” Kher wrote.
