Mumbai: Anupam Kher, who is playing a key role in Vivek Agnihotri's upcoming film 'Kashmir Files', will now himself make a film on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s. Anupam Kher announced this at the launch of Anushka Dhar's book 'NH44: Take Me Home'.

'NH44: Take Me Home' is an English book by 16-year-old author Anushka Dhar, which is based on the plight and the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s. Anupam Kher, who was present at the launch of this book at a five-star hotel in Mumbai today, praised Anushka Dhar for talking about Kashmiri Pandits to the world through the book at the age of 16. Later, Anupam Kher has announced that he will make a film on this book.

Anupam Kher has written the introduction for ‘NH44: Take Me Home’. The actor said, “I didn't think that I would make a film on this book. But I feel that it is very important to tell the story of whatever happened to the Pandits in Kashmir and that is why I thought of making a film on it.”

Kher was deeply impressed by the sympathy expressed in Anushka's book for the Kashmiri Pandits and her passion for the problem of Kashmiri Pandits. He further said, “When girls of her age are still growing and paying attention to their grooming, Anushka thought of bringing out the pain of Kashmiri Pandits in front of everyone, which is very commendable.”

Anupam Kher said that despite such atrocities with the Kashmiri Pandits, the Pandits never took up guns nor took part in any kind of terrorist activities. “They always held on to the hope that one day he would get a chance to go back home”, added the actor.

Born and raised in Shimla, Anupam Kher said that he aspires to one day take his mother back to Kashmir. Anupam Kher expressed hope that the day will surely come when all Kashmiri Pandits will get a chance to return to their homes.

Meanwhile, during the launch of ‘NH44: Take Me Home’, Ashoke Pandit, who is the director of the 2004 film ‘Sheen’, was also present at the event.
