Throwback Gem! Amitabh Bachchan Shares UNSEEN Photo From 'Sholay' Premiere

Amitabh Bachchan also revealed that he and Vinod Khanna sat on the floor of the balcony and watched 'Sholay' till 3 am in the morning.

New Delhi: Who can ever forget the evergreen film ‘Sholay’? The movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan is considered as a classic for several reasons and we even don’t need to mention them. Thinking, why we are talking about the Ramesh Sippy directorial today? Well, Amitabh Bachchan has shared an unseen throwback photo from Sholay’s premiere on Instagram. The black and white photo from the premiere of Sholay will definitely make you watch the film again. The star-studded premiere took place on August 15, 1975. The entire Bachchan family including Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Teji Bachchan and Jaya attended the premiere. Big B revealed that they watched the movie on 35 mm print as the 70 mm stereo sound print was stuck in the customs. Interestingly, the film’s team got a call that the 70 mm print was out of customs after Sholay’s premiere ended by midnight. And that’s how ‘Sholay’ became the ‘first Indian film on 70 mm on Stereo’, senior Bachchan mentioned in his post. Amitabh and Vinod Khanna sat on the floor of the balcony and watched ‘Sholay’ till 3 am in the morning. “At the Premiere of SHOLAY .. 15th August 1975, at the Minerva .. Ma, Babuji, Jaya and a bow tied moi .. how pretty Jaya looks .. This was the 35 mm print at the Premiere .. the 70mm Stereo sound print , first time in India was stuck in Customs.. but after the Premiere got over by midnight, we got news that the 70mm print was out of Customs .. we told Ramesh ji to get it to the Minerva .. it came .. the first Indian film on 70mm Stereo .. and I sat on the floor of the Balcony with Vinod Khanna and finished seeing this amazing result till 3 in the morning,” Big B wrote in the caption.
