Akshay Kumar Starrer OMG 2 Becomes Fourth Highest Grossing Adult Film Of Bollywood; Joins Kabir Singh And The Kashmir Files
'OMG 2' is now the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood movie with an adult rating, according to box office data.
New Delhi: 'Oh My God 2' (OMG 2), starring Akshay Kumar, continues to perform well at the domestic box office. Despite having an adult certification, Sacnilk.com reports that the film has so far made Rs 135.9 crore nett. 'OMG 2' is now the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood movie with an adult rating, according to box office data gathered shared by Koimoi.com.
The online publication reports that 'Kabir Singh' earned Rs 278.2 crore nett in India during its theatrical run. Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani both featured in the movie. The Telugu hit 'Arjun Reddy', which was also directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role, was remade as 'Kabir Singh'.
'The Kashmir Files', which premiered last year, is the second-highest-grossing adult film in Bollywood. The film, which was directed by Vivek Agnihotri, reportedly earned Rs 252.5 crores in India. Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Mithun Chakraborty all appeared in the movie. The movie was a box office hit, but some people criticised it for supposedly inflaming conflicts.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with PTI, director Amit Rai expressed his "heartbreak" at the A certificate the movie obtained and shared that it would remain in its entirety on OTT.
"We were heartbroken because we made the film for everyone to watch, now that cannot happen. We begged them to give us a U/A certificate (children below 12 years of age can watch a film under parental guidance) but they didn't. We tried to convince them till the very end... But then they walked some distance, we walked some distance. The film has been released with modifications," he said.
The movie 'OMG 2' is a sequel to the 2012 movie 'OMG - Oh My God', which starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. Amit Rai directorial stars Pankaj Tripathi as Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devotee of Shiva who accuses the educational system of misleading his child. In the movie, Akshay plays Lord Shiva's messenger, and Yami Gautam plays a lawyer. The film also stars Vedika Nawani, Fahim Fazli, Arun Govil, Aamir Naik, and Parth Siddhpura, among others.
