After 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', Bhumi Pednekar To Work With Akshay Kumar In 'Raksha Bandhan'

The makers of Akshay Kumar starrer 'Raksha Bandhan' have roped in Bhumi Pednekar to play the female lead in the upcoming film.

Akshay Kumar Welcomes Bhumi Pednekar On Board For 'Raksha Bandhan'

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar is a on roll. The Bollywood superstar will be entertaining the audience with films belonging to different genres, be it comedy, drama or action. Khiladi Kumar took to social media to announce Bhumi Pednekar as the leading lady of his upcoming movie ‘Raksha Bandhan’. 

The ‘PadMan’ star shared a happy picture of Bhumi Pednekar and director Aanand L Rai along with the caption, “When you are happy, it shows. And indeed we are...to have @bhumipednekar onboard #RakshaBandhan.” 

Akshay, Bhumi and Aanand can be seen flashing their smiles while striking a pose for the camera. Check out their photo! 

Bhumi expressed her excitement on teaming up with Aanand L Rai and Akshay Kumar again in 'Raksha Bandhan. She said, "A very special film & a very special reunion. Am supremely excited to be collaborating again with two of my favourite creative powerhouses & humans. Am full of gratitude to be a part of this special, heart-touching story."

Akshay had announced the film on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan 2020, dedicating it to his sister Alka. "A story that touches your heart so deeply & so instantly,it’s the quickest I’ve signed a film in my career.Dedicating this film,#RakshaBandhan to my sister,Alka & to the most special bond in the world...that of a brother and sister.Thank you @aanandlrai,this one is very special,” the 'Rustom' star wrote.

'Raksha Bandhan', to be directed by Aanand L Rai and written by HimanshuSharma, is slated to hit the silver screens on November 5, 2021.

Akshay and Bhumi have earlier worked in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, which created ripples at the box office. The comedy dram had set the cash registers jingling upon its release in 2017. 

Bhumi played the titular role in ‘Durgamati’, which was co-produced by Akshay Kumar. 

On the professional front, Akshay has several exciting projects in his kitty including 'Sooryavanshi', 'BellBottom', 'Ram Setu', 'Bachchan Panday' and 'Prithviraj'.

Talking about Bhumi, the 'Bala' star has 'Badhaai Do' and 'Mr. Lele' in pipeline.
