After 'Padmavati', ad film set vandalised for placing Urdu posters on temples

NEW DELHI: A local organisation of Jaipur, 'Dharohar Bachao Samiti' disrupted the shoot of an advertisement film for recreating a Pakistani ctity. The outfit went on the rampage and vandalised the sets. Production house, Good Morning Films was shooting for Volkswagen Polo Hatchback near City Palace when the incident happened. In order to give the site, a feel of the place, the crew of the film placed Urdu banners and signs on temples, buildings and landmarks. The banners had writings such as  'Welcome to Lahore', 'Karachi Sweets' and 'Rawalpindi Chai Wala'. As per a report in Indian Express, around 11.30 am on April 25, Tuesday, approximately 40 members of Dharohar Bachao Samiti which claims to conserve ancient temples, stormed into the location and damaged the sets. "They had created Pakistan in the area by putting up Pakistani banners on our temples. How could we tolerate it? They hurt our religious sentiments," said Bharat Singh, caretaker of the outfit. "They put up Urdu banners of Pakistani locations in Char Darwaza area. They had permission only for Chandni Chowk and City Palace," he added. The Police bluntly refused to acknowledge that there has been vandalism. "There was no vandalism. The protesters asked the filmmakers to take down the banners and signs, which they did. So the matter was resolved," Sub Inspector Narendra Singh told Indian Express while the Producer Vikram Kalra said, "Yes, there was some disruption, the crew is on way back (Mumbai)". The production house didn't lodge any complaint. Earlier in Junauary, Rajput Karni Sena, the self-proclaimed Rajput-honour vigilantes vandalised the sets of upcoming magnum opus 'Padmavati' and assaulted filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for distorting historical facts.
