Adult Film Racket Case: Mumbai Court To Deliver Verdict On Gehana Vasisth's Bail Application Tomorrow

A Mumbai sessions court had earlier denied interim protection from arrest to actress Gehana Vasisth in a case linked with production and distribution of adult films.

Mumbai: A Mumbai sessions court will deliver its verdict on Gehana Vasisth’s bail application in an alleged adult films racket case on Saturday (August 7), according to ANI. The ‘Gandi Baat’ actress had filed an anticipatory bail application before an addition sessions judge as she feared arrest after the Mumbai Crime Branch registered a fresh FIR in connection with the obscene films case.

In the FIR, the Crime Branch named producers of Raj Kundra’s company and Genana Vasisth as accused. The officials lodged the case after an actress contacted them and alleged that she was forced to shoot for an adult film for HotShots app.

The Crime Branch registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and the IT Act, according to a report in PTI.

Earlier this week, the Mumbai sessions court denied interim protection from arrest to Gehana, stating that allegations against her are of ‘serious of nature’.

On a related note, the Crime Branch had registered a case linked with the production and circulation of obscene films in February 2021. Gehana Vasisth was also arrested in the same case.

The police officers arrested Raj Kundra on July 19 for his alleged involvement in making of adult films. A Mumbai sessions court on Thursday (August 5) said that it will hear bail applications of Kundra and his associate Ryan Thorpe on August 10.

Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe are currently in judicial custody.

A team of Crime Branch also quizzed Shilpa Shetty as part of their probe in the alleged pornography case. They reportedly questioned her for over five hours at the ‘Hungama 2’ actress’ residence.

Shetty said that she was unaware about the content of HotShots app, as per a report in IANS.
