Aamir Khan And Salman Khan Often Used To Fight On Andaz Apna Apna Sets, Reveals Co-Star Shehzad Khan
On the set of the movie, Aamir and Salman would frequently fight, according to actor Shehzad Khan, who plays Bhalla to Biju Khote's Robert in the film.
New Delhi: Andaz Aapna Apna, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi in 1994, is still regarded as a cult classic. Even though the Aamir Khan and Salman Khan film made us laugh out loud about 30 years ago, fans of the comedy-drama are still enthralled with the behind-the-scenes tales from the shoot. On the set of the movie, Aamir and Salman would frequently fight, according to actor Shehzad Khan, who plays Bhalla to Biju Khote's Robert in the film.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Khan was questioned about the veracity of the reports that Salman and Aamir did not get along well while filming Andaz Apna Apna. Replying to the question in the affirmative, he said, "I have seen it happen in front of my eyes. Many times things would happen. Salman is Salman and Aamir is Aamir. I won’t blame anyone for it. Often, I used to be the bridge between them. I have been very close to Salman since childhood, toh cheezein nipat jaati thi (so things used to be sorted out).”
There was friction between Aamir and Salman because of their disparate methods of approaching towards their work. Shehzad said, "Aamir would reach the Mud Island bungalow at 7-7.30 in the morning when call time used to be 9 am. Salman bechaare 10-11 baje tak aa hi jaate the (poor Salman would come by 10-11),” added Khan, while defending his childhood friend. “We all know how difficult it is to come from Bandra. Kabhi gaadi kharab, kabhi kuch kharab… (Sometimes the car broke down or sometimes something else…”
During the shoot of Andaz Apna Apna, Aamir Khan also used to live in Bandra.
Shehzad Khan went on to defend Salman, pointing out that although Aamir is a one-take artist, Salman takes multiple shots before delivering the ideal shot. “But the performance of both of them was up to the mark, nobody can say this is 32 takes and this is one take,” Khan said.
According to the actor, both Salman and Aamir never confronted each other on the sets.
Talking about the atmosphere on the film's sets that also starred Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, Khan said, "We used to have a lot of fun during the shoot. It was a very family-like atmosphere. Our producer would bring home-cooked food. He used to pamper us like hell."
Despite failing to become a box office success, Andaz Apna Apna eventually became a cult classic.
