51st Kerala State Film Awards Winners List: Jayasurya, Anna Ben Bag Top Laurels. 'The Great Indian Kitchen' Wins Best Film
Kerala State Film Awards: Jeo Baby's 'The Great Indian Kitchen' bagged the awards for the best film and screenplay.
New Delhi: Kerala’s Minister for Film Development Corporation Saji Cheriyan on Saturday (October 16) declared the winners of the 51st Kerala State Film Awards. As expected, ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ bagged the award for the Best Film at the prestigious awards ceremony. The movie, which released earlier this year, also claimed the award for the Best Screenplay.
Anna Ben, known for her acting prowess, won the award for Best Actress for her power-packed performance in ‘Kappela’. Jayasurya, who essayed the lead role in 'Vellam', was honoured with the Best Actor award.
‘The Great Indian’ Kitchen Story, Cast
The Malayam drama film, which has been written and directed by Jeo Baby, focuses on the story of a newly married couple in a traditional middle class family. The plot revolved around a newly-wedded lady, who struggles to become the submissive wife that her husband and in-laws expect her to be.
Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramood played the lead roles in the critically acclaimed film.

The jury-headed by veteran actress Suhasini Maniratnam said that a total of 80 films were submitted for the awards in different categories despite the challenges posed by the Coronavirus crisis, a report in PTI said.
The awards would be presented at a function to be conducted in Thiruvananthapuram in December 2021.
