Mirzapur 2 Makers Apologise To Author For 'Inadvertently Hurting Sentiments'

Excel Entertainment, which has produced the web series, issued an apology to veteran author Surendar Mohan Pathak, who expressed his displeasure over one of the scenes in 'Mirzapur' and accused the makers of misrepresenting his book 'Dhabba'. For the uninitiated, Kulbhushan Kharbanda's character Satyanand Tripathi read the book in one of the scenes in the series. A voice over, which played in the background stirred controversy as the writer alleged that it had nothing to do with his book. The production house has acknowledged that the depiction of 'Dhabba' in Mirzapur 2 and an 'unrelated' voiceover hurt the sentiments of Surender Mohan Pathak and his well-wishers.

What 'Mirzapur 2' Makers Said In Their Statement?

Puneet Krishna, creator and writer of 'Mirzapur 2', apologised to Surendar Mohan Pathak and offered to change the scene in the web series. He promised to make immediate amends in the particular scene. The statement read: “Dear Surender Mohan Pathak, It has been brought to my notice by you that there is a scene in the recently released series - Mirzapur Season 2 - which depicts a character named Satyanand Tripathi, reading a book named 'Dhabba' which as been written by you and this depiction is supplemented with an unrelated voiceover (VO) which has hurt your sentiments and the sentiments of your fans and well-wishers." The creators have promised to 'rectify the situation' by blurring the book-cover from the scene or removing the voice over within a time period of three weeks. "We sincerely apologize for the same and would like to convey to you that this was not done with any malicious intent or to tarnish/damage your reputation. We are aware that you are a writer of repute and your work is held in high regard in the world of hindi crime fiction. We would like to assure you that to rectify this situation, as discussed with you and as per your wishes, we will blur the book-cover in the scene or remove the VO within a reasonable time of 3 weeks.
