Karan Johar Posts Cryptic Note Amid Criticism Over His Old Comment On ‘Sabotaging’ Anushka Sharma's Career
Filmmaker Karan Johar has been receiving a lot of flak after Priyanka Chopra’s comment on politics in Bollywood and his old comment about wanting to "murder" Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma's career.
New Delhi: Filmmaker Karan Johar has been receiving a lot of flak after Priyanka Chopra’s comment on politics in Bollywood and his old comment about wanting to "murder" Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma's career.
An old video of Karan Johar talking about how he once wanted to end Anushka Sharma’s career went viral and the filmmaker was slammed by writer-editor Apurva Asrani, director Vivek Agnihotri and Kangana Ranaut.
Karan has finally reacted to all the criticism through a cryptic post on Instagram. Taking to his Instagram stories, he wrote, "Laga lo ilzaam, hum jhukne waalon mein se nahi.., jhoot ka ban jao ghulam...., hum bolne waalon mein se nahi..., jitna neecha dikhaoge..., jitne aarop lagaoge..., hum girne waalon mein se nahi..., humara karam humari Vijay hai...aap utha lo talvaar... Hum marne waalon mein se nahi," he wrote.
Karan confessed to trying to sabotage Anushka Sharma's Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.’
The video is from the 18th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2016. Karan attended the event with his 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' actresses Anushka and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the promotion of the film. Speaking to Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra, KJo had said in jest: "I completely wanted to murder Anushka Sharma's career because when Aditya Chopra showed me her picture, I was like no no, there is no need for you to sign Anushka Sharma. There was another lead actor whom I wanted Adi to sign. I watched the film reluctantly, but when I watched 'Band Baaja Baarat', I felt like I owed her an apology and a compliment, an apology because I felt so embarrassed that I would have ruined the graph of an exceptional talent.”
Earlier, Priyanka Chopra’s statement about politics in Bollywood had also brought Karan i spotlight with Kangana Ranaut and others blaming him for the same.
Priyanka spoke to Dax Shepherd on his podcast, saying, "I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break. This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require grovelling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn't feel like I wanted to do it.”
"So when this music thing came I was like 'fu** it I'am going to America'," she added.
After her comment, Kangana took to Twitter and blamed Karn Johar for ganging against Priyanka.
