New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut, who made her debut with the Anurag Basu thriller movie ‘Gangster’, has been in the limelight for her controversial statements a lot lately. From calling out the Bollywood bigwigs to the Twitter war with Diljit Dosanjh over the farmers’ protests, the ‘Manikarnika’ actress never shies away from voicing her opinion.

‘Ludo’ director Anurag Basu recently opened up about the ‘Gangster’ actress saying that he doesn’t meet Ranaut very often. He also told that he does not understand the ‘public persona’ of the ‘Queen’ actress. Recalling the moment he met Kangana, Anurag Basu told Mid-Day, “Of the 20-25 girls we auditioned for the part, her face just stuck in my head - there was something unique about her.”

When questioned if he could foresee Kangana’s grand success as an actress, the ‘Barfi’ director was quoted saying by the publication, “In the beginning, she needed guidance for everything. But she is a really fast learner. I have seen her growth during the filming of Gangster itself.”

Speaking about her ‘public persona’, the ‘Life In A Metro’ director said he did not see really see this side of Kangana and also revealed that they do not meet much. Basu told the publication, “We usually don't meet, but whenever we do, this [public] persona is not the Kangana I [know] personally. So I think there are two Kanganas. Beech wali [the other one] I don't understand.”

Anurag Basu directed Kangana Ranaut in three films including ‘Gangster’, ‘Life In A Metro’ and ‘Kites’. The ‘Tejas’ actress won several awards for her debut in the movie ‘Gangster’.

The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress will be next seen starring in the biopic ‘Thalaivi’, where she will illustrate the lead character of J. Jayalalithaa. Kangana Ranaut also has ‘Dhaakad’ and ‘Tejas’ in her kitty.
