India reached the score of 153 runs with Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant on the crease on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at MCG.


Shubman Gill fell short of a fifty on debut as Pat Cummins gave Australia the first breakthrough on Day 2 at the MCG. Cheteshwar Pujara looked confident initially, also had some luck. Just when it seemed like the initial spells were seen off, Pat Cummins struck to dismiss him.

India batsmen Gill and Pujara began Day 2 of India vs Australia 2nd Test in Melbourne with an eye to take a healthy lead over Australia. The pair took India past 50 after the rub of the green went India’s way early on. Shubman Gill was dismissed for 45 runs off 65 deliveries by Cummins, following an edge which carried to Tim Paine. The pacer further accounted for the wicket of Pujara, with Paine pulling off a fine one-handed catch. Rahane and Hanuma Vihari helped the visitors rebuild before the latter was dismissed for 21, handing a catch to Steve Smith off Nathan Lyon.

Rishabh Pant who is on the crease right now has got a chance to show off his skills in the second Test. He has the opportunity to show why he is rated so highly as Pant comes in when India are looking to take a lead in the first innings.

On Day 1 of Ind vs Aus 2nd Test at Melbourne, Australian batsmen succumbed to the magical bowling of Indian star bowlers R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj and after winning the toss, the Australian team could score only 195 runs in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test.

Apart from Marnus Labuschagne, no other batsman had answers to lethal deliveries from the Indian bowling attack as scored the most 48 runs.
