Johnny Depp, Amber Heard: Pirates of the Caribbean Actor Applies To Court For Overturn Of Ruling

In yet another revelation, Johnny Depp almost had Amber Heard sacked from 'Aquaman 2' amid rough split.

It seems that the famed Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp is in no mood to settle down with the verdict and applied to the Court of Appeal to overturn a High Court judgement that found claims that he assaulted his ex-wife Amber Heard to be “substantially true”. The actor had sued The Sun's publisher for libel after the newspaper’s executive editor wrote a column in 2018 labelling him a “wife-beater”. Although the claim was dismissed in October after a judge ruled that publisher News Group Newspapers (NGN) had proved the allegations made in the article to be broadly accurate. In fact once the ruling came against the actor’s claim, Justice Nicol said an appeal to overturn the ruling does not have a "reasonable prospect of success". What happened in the libel? The court ordered Depp to begin paying NGN for its legal fees, which amounted to nearly £630,000, after the judge ruled that 12 of the 14 allegations made in The Sun’s article were true. As per news website the Independent, the actor has time until 7 December to apply directly to the Court of Appeal to overturn the judgement. At the three-week trial in July, the court considered allegations of domestic violence between 2013 and 2016. It was the time when their relationship ended. Of the 14 alleged incidents, there were only two the judge did not rule as having occurred, including one which he said could not be proven as it was not put to Depp in cross-examination. What’s the next step taken by Depp? The actor was asked to step down from his role in the Harry Potter spin-off franchise Fantastic Beasts following the ruling. At that time Depp issued a statement insisting that the judgment of the court in the UK will not change his fight to tell the truth and said he will appeal. Depp has now filed an application with the court, a publicly-available list of pending appeals shows. However, the actor’s grounds of appeal are still not clear, or when a decision on his application for permission to appeal is likely to be made. Meanwhile another information has been revealed from the details of the case.  Johnny Depp has reportedly tried to ensure that his ex-wife Amber Heard was replaced on Aquaman. For this the actor reached out to his sister, producer Christi Dembrowski, about Heard’s role in the blockbuster Warner Bros. film. These details have come out of the information provided in Judge Andrew Nicols’ court ruling in Depp’s UK libel case. The details were in the possession of the magazine The Hollywood Reporter. I want her replaced on the WB film,” Depp, 57, wrote to Dembrowski, who at the time had a contract with Warner Bros. During the trial, THR reports that Depp admitted he was referring to the 2018 film, which also stars Jason Momoa. Heard, 34, portrayed the role of Mera, Aquaman's love interest in the movie which became a blockbuster film .
