Here is a list of ten good adventure films to watch every once in a while when life gets boring and hard, and when only an adventure film can come to your rescue.

New Delhi: Adventure films are the great escape experiences that let audiences time travel, get their dose of action and adventure with a cinematic viewing. While many can vouch that adventure seen on the big theatre screen serves best the purpose of the genre, adventure films nonetheless on smaller screens can give the fraction of thrills and catharthis an audience expects from the genre. Here is a list of ten good adventure films to watch every once in a while when life gets boring and hard, and when only an adventure film can come to your rescue.

The Wizard of Oz ( 1938)

Victor Fleming's 'The Wizard of Oz'( 1938) continues to be a prototype to how an imaginative tale such as 'The Wizard of Oz' was first reporduced on screen with exciting visuals and storytelling that still makes this classic a must-see film for young and old.

The Treasure of Sierra Madre( 1948)

This Humphrey Boghart starrer classic adventure film is a dark and humours morality tale by director John Huston. Ranked among Huston's finest films, 'The Teasure of Sierra Madre' was an adaptation of the 1927 novel of the same name and the now-old plot around exploring gold in Mexico.

This Boghart film has been preserved in the United State National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being 'culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The Hidden Fortress( 1958)

Akira Kurosawa's magical epics, this is a fuedal adventure tale told from an equally quirky perspective that makesit fresh and raw, even today. This Japanese jidaigeki adventure film was the fourth-highest grossing film of Japan that year and one of Kurosawa's most successful film to a point.

'The Hidden Fortress' also influences the 1977 American cult film 'Star Wars'.

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

This classic epic by David Lean cannot not be a part of the good adventure films list. A four hour long film with a scope, massive set buildups, performances and cinematography hard to reproduce, this 'epic of epics' biographical adventure drama is based on the life of TE Lawrence and his 1926 book 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom'. 

‘Lawrence of Arabia’ is often regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.

Raiders of the Lost Ark( 1981)

Steven Spielberg's 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' is a classic adventure film that cannot be emulated. This masala entertainer makes it to the pure gold list of good adventure films of all time. And, how can we not mention Harrson Ford as Indiana Jones, 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' became the highest-grossing film of 1981 and also became the first film in the Indiana Jones franchise that gave birth to an array of merchandise and TV series portraying the iconic character.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring ( 2001)

This pitch-perfect cast film began and brough JRR Tolkein's classic of the same name to life through film. This epic fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson was a blockbuster with rave critic reviews. Like its later parts, 'The Fellowship of the Ring' became as one of the 'greatest and most influential films ever made' and won several awards at the 74th Oscars. 

In 2007, the American Film Institure called 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' as one of the 100 greatest American films in history.

Coco( 2017)

'Coco' is an extraordinary adventure tale about a little boy's adventures in the Land of teh Dead. With stunning visuals in an animated film that is emotional and personal on so many levels, 'Coco', directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina is a must watch in every good adventure movies list.

Back to the Future( 1985)

'Back to the Future' is a Robert Zemeckis film that needs no introduction. This acclaimed classic adventure film is a tiem travel film about the misadventures of Marty McFly. A cult favourite science fiction film that became the highest-grossing film of 1985 and was appreciated by critics and fans alike.

Inception( 2010)

Christopher Nolan's sci-fi adventure film is a must in all good aventure films list ust because it is what had never been seen on screen before. This adventure film about layers of minds and dreams was a box office hit that was lauded by critics and fans alike, especially for its novel concept and just the way it was shot.

Dune Part 2 ( 2024)

Director Denis Villeneuve brings Frank Herbert's almost unadaptable novels to a perfect cinematic match with Dune: Part 2. Called 'bolder, bigger and better' in many ways, this compelling story with brilliant performances by actors has the fans and critics await a final installment to the film series.
