Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially settled their divorce after an intense eight-year legal struggle. According to Variety, the former couple signed off on the final terms of their split on December 30.

Angelina’s lawyer James Simon said in a statement, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family”.
He added, “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over”.
However, Simon noted that the divorce is just one chapter in a broader ongoing legal process.
As part of the settlement, Pitt and Jolie have requested a jury trial lasting 10 to 15 days. They have also agreed to attend a mediation session to resolve any remaining disputes.
The couple’s turbulent split made headlines in 2016 after an alleged altercation on a private plane. Reports surfaced that Pitt had “choked” one of their children and “struck another in the face” during the incident. Jolie later claimed Pitt also “grabbed her by the head and shook her.”

Initially filed anonymously, the lawsuit was revealed in 2022 to involve Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In April, Jolie’s legal team accused Pitt of prior instances of physical abuse before the 2016 incident. The filing further alleged that Brad Pitt attempted to block Jolie from selling her share of their Chateau Miraval winery unless she signed an NDA prohibiting her from discussing the abuse publicly.
While this settlement marks progress, the legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continues over issues such as custody and property disputes.
