Film On UP CM Yogi Adityanath Faces Censor Delay; Makers Move Bombay High Court

The producers of "Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi" accused the CBFC of acting arbitrarily and causing unwarranted delays in processing the film’s certification application.

The makers of a film based on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's life have approached the Bombay High Court, alleging undue delay by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in issuing a certificate for the movie titled "Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi."

In their petition, the producers accused the CBFC of acting arbitrarily and causing unwarranted delays in processing the film’s certification application. They claimed that such a delay is jeopardising the film’s planned release date of August 1, 2025.

The bench comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Dr Neela Gokhale issued a notice to the CBFC after hearing the petition filed by Samrat Cinematic India Private Limited.

CBFC Demands NOC From CMO

The plea seeks directions from the court to compel the CBFC to take an expedited decision on the film’s certification.

One of the key objections raised by the producers is the CBFC's demand for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) of Uttar Pradesh, which they argue is unwarranted.

The film is reportedly inspired by author Shantanu Gupta’s well-known book "The Monk Who Became Chief Minister" and is said to explore untold aspects of Yogi Adityanath’s life and his journey from monkhood to political leadership.
