"Ranneeti," originally known as "Grey Wars," was a project that deeply resonated with me. When the opportunity came during a busy period, I was intrigued by the concept presented by the production house and the director, Mr. Santosh Singh. They shared a vision for a war room drama that delved into the complexities of decision-making during wartime, which immediately captivated my interest. We aimed to explore the intricate processes, strategic planning, and conflicting ideologies within a nation's war room. This concept not only challenged me creatively but also offered a profound narrative depth that I was eager to bring to life visually. Location scouting was an immersive experience. Alongside Mr. Santosh Singh and our talented production designer, Mr. Rajat Poddar, we delved into the script to understand the essence of each scene. Together, we scouted various locations in Delhi and Punjab, searching for settings that not only fit the narrative but also added an authentic and visceral layer to the storytelling.
Being a cinematographer is akin to being the director's visual interpreter, translating the written word into a visual tapestry that captivates the audience. When I embarked on the journey of filming "Ranneeti," I immersed myself in the script, absorbing its nuances and thematic undercurrents. Each scene was a canvas waiting to be painted with light and color.
Color theory became my palette for storytelling. I meticulously selected color schemes that resonated with the mood and emotion of each moment. Red symbolized passion or danger, while blues evoked calmness or melancholy. These choices were not arbitrary but deliberate, aimed at enhancing the narrative impact.
The action sequences were adrenaline-pumping challenges. Collaborating with our action director, Mr. Ravi Varma, and foreign action director Steven moth, we meticulously storyboarded each sequence. This ensured that every action-packed moment seamlessly integrated into the storyline, maintaining the narrative's intensity and flow.
The film, based on the tagline "Ek duje ke liye", draws inspiration from romantic serials and films like Ishq Subhanallah Sufiyana, Pyar Mera, and Sanyasi Mera Naam, authored by Danish Javed. It's a contemporary love story that presents modern perspectives on love in a highly emotional manner.
The trailer begins with a scene from a peace seminar held at Aligarh Muslim University's campus, where Aryan Khanna (played by Bhavya Sachdeva) presents his research on Nelson Mandela and Kaira Singh (played by Ankita Sahu) present her research on Mahatma Gandhi. Aryan Khanna stated that मैं उस ब्यूटी को ब्यूटी ही नहीं मानता जो आँखों को अट्रैक्ट ना करे।( I don't consider the beauty ,which doesn't attract the eyes). In another dialogue, amidst romantic banter, Aryan expressed that मडेला जी यह ट्रॉफी जीतेंगे, और मैं इस लड़की का दिल।(Mr. Mandela will win this trophy, and I will win this girl's heart), to which Kaira Singh sternly replied मैं अजनबियों से बात नहीं करती।(I don't talk to strangers.) Amidst the back-and-forth between the main characters, the title song of the film plays in the background, setting the tone for a fresh love story.
In Pyar Ke Do Naam, Bhavya Sachdeva and Ankita Sahu play the lead roles, with Kanika Gautam, Achal Tankwal, Deepti Mishra, and Namita Lal appearing in prominent roles. The film is produced by Vijay Goyal and Danish Javed, with co-producer Shahab Ilahabadi. The unique love story's music is composed by Anjan Bhattacharya and Shabbir Ahmad, with lyrics by Danish Javed and Vasim Barelvi, sung by Javed Ali, Ritu Pathak, Raja Hasan, and Swati Sharma.
Director Danish Javed describes the film as a contemporary love story based on the principles of two great leaders of the world. Through the love story of Aryan Khanna and Kaira Singh, the film aims to answer the question of Ek Dooje ke liye, Ya ek Dooje ke Saath for the audience.
‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ actress Krishna Mukherjee has accused the production house and producer of the television show ‘Shubh Shagun,’ Kundan Singh, of harassment and non-payment of dues. Krishna took to Instagram and shared a post sharing the circumstances behind her departure from the show and the toll it took on her mental health. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta recently watched Kiran Rao's directorial venture, 'Laapataa Ladies', and showered it with praise.
The filmmaker described the film as simple, clear, and charmingly old-fashioned in a good way.
Taking to Twitter, Mehta shared his thoughts: "Saw the very big-hearted and moving 'Laapataa Ladies'. Sometimes all that is needed is simplicity and clarity. This film is that. I went in expecting more and finished with more than it apparently delivers."
'Laapataa Ladies' is a comedy-drama produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Jyoti Deshpande.
The film features Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan.
Mehta further remarked: "It is old-fashioned in a good way and modern in a very subtle manner. It is deceptively simple in its treatment and humour."

Television actor Guruchuran Singh of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma' fame, known for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom, has been missing for five days. According to the latest update in the case in a report shared by NDTV, security camera footage captured the 50-year-old actor crossing a road in the Palam area on Monday night.
Designer duo Rimple and Harpreet have confirmed that they are crafting costumes for the forthcoming magnum opus 'Ramayana', directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
Harpreet told IANS: "We are absolutely elated and honoured to be entrusted with the monumental task of designing costumes for the upcoming historical movie, 'Ramayana'."
Rimple added, "This opportunity feels like a true blessing, as the Ramayana holds unparalleled significance in our country's cultural heritage."
The duo has previously showcased their talent by creating stunning costumes for films like 'Padmaavat', 'Housefull 4', and the upcoming series 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Hapreet called it "a huge responsibility" as "Ramayana not only embodies the essence of timeless values and virtues but also serves as a guiding light for generations."

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita.

The high on action drama helmed by director Karan Lalit Butani amassed ₹60 lakh nett in India, according to a report from Sacnilk.com. 'Ruslaan' stars Aayush Sharma in the lead role alongside Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, Jagapathi Babu, and Vidya Malvade. The action-packed film saw a 6.42 percent occupancy across Hindi cinemas, with Chennai boasting the highest attendance at 16 percent.
