'Doctor G' starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Shefali Shah has had a better start than the Parineeti Chopra, Harrdy Sandhu starrer 'Code Name: Tiranga'.
New Delhi: This Friday saw the release of two films 'Doctor G' and 'Code Name: Tiranga'. 'Doctor G' starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Shefali Shah has had a better start than the Parineeti Chopra, Harrdy Sandhu starrer 'Code Name: Tiranga'. Kannada film '''s Hindi dubbed version 'Kantara' also released on Friday and amidst all three, 'Doctor G' has performed the best.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, 'Doctor G' collected Rs. 3 crores to Rs. 3.50 crores on Friday, which is way more than was estimated for the film. As per BoxOfficeIndia, 'Doctor G' has fared better than Ayushmann's last release 'Anek' and has opened close to Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui's opening day numbers. While 'Anek' made Rs. 1.77 crores on its first day, 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui' opened with Rs. 3.75 crores.
It is being estimated that the film might do even better on Saturday-Sunday considering that the film has shown a good trend at the multiplexes.
'Doctor G' is a medical campus comedy directed by debutante director Anubhuti Kashyap. According to our in-house review, 'Doctor G' delivers a perfect dose of entertainment with decent performances by its actors, a pacy screenplay, good design and a wall-balanced show-tell combination without the burden of preachiness.
On the other hand, Parineeti Chopra starrer 'Code Name: Tiranga' collected Rs. 10-15 lakh nett on its first day despite the low ticket price of Rs.10o on the first day. 'Code Name' is a female action-led film much like Kangana Ranaut's 'Dhaakad' but is likely to collect less than the latter, as per estimates.
As per our in-house review, "Code Name: Tiranga' is an interesting mix of the familiar with the unfamiliar. It is conventional although with some nuances but it mostly conforms to the formula film structure of this genre."
Meanwhile, 'Kantara', the Kannada dubbed film in Hindi has found many takers. 'Kantara' is working on word-of-mouth reviews and is expected to earn around Rs. 75 lakhs-Rs 1 crores on the weekend.
