Triptii Dimri Steps In for Deepika Padukone Opposite Prabhas in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit

Triptii Dimri replaces Deepika Padukone as the female lead in Spirit, starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Actor Triptii Dimri has officially been announced as the female lead opposite Prabhas in the much-anticipated pan-world film Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The announcement was made on Saturday by the film’s producers, T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.

Earlier reports suggested that Deepika Padukone was in talks to star as the female lead in Spirit. However, recent speculation indicates that she exited the project due to reported “unprofessional demands.” Now, director Vanga himself has confirmed that Triptii Dimri will headline the film alongside Prabhas.

Spirit marks the second collaboration between Triptii Dimri and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who previously worked together on the 2023 blockbuster Animal. Known for his emotionally charged storytelling in films like Kabir Singh, Vanga is expected to bring another intense narrative to life, with Prabhas portraying a fierce and gritty police officer.

T-Series, headed by Bhushan Kumar, shared the exciting news on social media:“A powerful new on-screen pairing is here! We’re thrilled to welcome #TriptiiDimri on board for our ambitious pan-world film #Spirit, starring #Prabhas and directed by @imvangasandeep.”

Fans took to social media to celebrate the casting update. One user wrote, “Welcome to RebelWood,” while another commented, “This is huge.” Another fan pointed out, “Deepika out, Triptii in! Vanga clearly has immense faith in her.” Summing up the excitement, a fan wrote, “I’m screaming!”

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, a source close to the production revealed the reason behind Padukone’s reported exit:“Sandeep Reddy Vanga got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than six hours a day for Spirit. That’s not all—the actress, via her agency, also began to demand amendments to the contract. Their main contention was simple: if the shoot extended beyond 100 days, Deepika would need to be paid extra for every single day beyond the agreed schedule.”

This project marks the first on-screen collaboration between Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, and the third film between Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga after their successful outings with Kabir Singh and Animal.

Spirit, officially announced in 2021, is currently in its pre-production phase and is expected to begin filming later this year. With a fresh pairing and a director known for delivering emotionally powerful blockbusters, Spirit is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of the coming years.
