New Delhi: On February 10, musician Sonu Nigam wowed the crowd during his live performance in Kolkata. However, things became heated when the singer became clearly irritated with the standing audience members who were interrupting him. He was seen expressing his annoyance and telling the audience to take a seat in a video that went viral online.
Sonu Nigam Lost His Cool
The video shows Sonu Nigam addressing the audience and saying, “Agar aapko khade hona hai toh election mein khade ho jaao yaar. Please bithao peechhe. Jaldi karo. Mera utna time jaa raha hai mera, maalum hai? Mere gaane cut karne padenge mujhe. Apka cut-off time aa jayega phir, baithao! Jaldi baitho! Baitho! Bahar niklo! Make this space empty. (If you want to stand, then go stand in the election. Please sit. Do it quickly. My time is getting wasted, do you know that? I’ll have to cut my songs. Your cut-off time will come then, so sit down! Sit down quickly! Sit down! Get out! Make this space empty)."

Several concertgoers resorted to social media with some lauding Sonu for his composure, while others scoffed at the event planners' inability to control the crowd. Someone said, "He actually had to manage the crowd and security himself. Because the management was so poor," another fan said, "It was so disgusting that due to poor management by organisers, Sonu Sir had to intervene himself. So shameful."
Many online users also saw parallels to the tragic June 2022 concert in Kolkata where singer KK died during his performance. Many fans have called for more organisation at future shows to avoid similar incidents, which have prompted discussions about crowd control and artist safety.
In an Instagram post, Sonu Nigam recently disclosed that he experienced a terrible back spasm while performing live and described the unbearable pain. Despite his ongoing physical pain, the singer remains completely devoted to his performances.
