Akshay Kumar, who tied the knot with Twinkle Khanna in 2001, had a few relationships before settling down. In a recent interview, his former co-star Sheeba Akashdeep opened up about their past and revealed that they shared an immediate connection while working together on the 1992 film Mr Bond.
Sheeba recalls dating Akshay Kumar
She recalled that they had common interests, including fitness, and even had family ties, but eventually drifted apart. She also admitted that they couldn’t remain friends after their breakup.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Sheeba was asked if she had ever dated Akshay. After a long pause and a sigh, she responded, “When you are young and working in close proximity, ho jata hai ishq (you fall in love).” When asked if there was an “immediate likeness, immediate friendship,” she agreed, adding, “Both fitness-crazy people… And family friends. My nani and his mom would play cards together.”
When questioned about why things didn’t work out, Sheeba attributed it to their young age. “We were both kids. I don’t even talk about it. I find it so funny. What’s there to talk about? I don’t even remember much stuff from that time. It’s been over three decades,” she said.
On staying friends with exes
Addressing the idea of staying friends with exes, Sheeba explained, “Not when you are very young, very emotional. You are so emotional that you are unable to be normal after that for the longest time. Young love is very passionate and powerful and it’s like an explosion. So when that explosion happens, it has to come down… Friendship doesn’t survive.”
She further added, “There’s just too much invested in a relationship to be friends later. It just doesn’t happen unless you are really mature.”
On the work front, Sheeba Akashdeep was last seen in Jigra and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
