Pahalgam Terror attack: Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan has joined the growing list of public figures condemning the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which left at least 26 civilians dead and several others injured. The attack, which took place at a popular tourist destination on Tuesday, has been described as one of the worst in the region since the 2019 Pulwama tragedy.

Shah Rukh condemns Pahalgam terror attack

Taking to X on Wednesday, Shah Rukh shared a heartfelt message expressing grief and outrage over the violence. “Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam,” he wrote. “In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we, as a Nation, stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act.”

Netizens react to Shah Rukh Khan's tweet

While several social media users lauded Shah Rukh Khan for his heartfelt message on the Pahalgam terror attack, some questioned the timing of his statement and felt it lacked certain specifics.

“Thank you for speaking with such clarity and compassion, @iamsrk. This act of terror in Pahalgam has shaken us all. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families left behind. May justice be swift. And may we, as a nation, stand united—stronger, wiser, and more resolute than ever,” wrote one user, praising the actor’s words.

Another added, “My heart aches hearing about the horrific attack in Pahalgam. The loss of so many innocent lives is devastating, and I can’t imagine the pain the families are going through. Your words echo the sorrow we all feel. Let’s pray for strength, unity, and justice in these dark times.”

However, not all responses were appreciative. Some felt Shah Rukh Khan’s message came too late, with one user commenting, “A day too late, King.” Another remarked, “So early for you to tweet Mr Khan 😤😤😐😐 Did you get any advisory?”

Criticism also came in the form of omissions, with one tweet reading, “Violence against Hindus… you forgot to mention that.” Another user sarcastically commented, “Bahut jaldi jameer jaga.” A similar sentiment was echoed by someone who wrote, “Conveniently left out the key words. Heaven forbid we actually call a spade a spade.”

Many celebrities react to the attack

The tragedy has triggered a wave of reactions from the Indian film fraternity. Celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and southern stars like Nani, Jr NTR, and Allu Arjun have shared their condolences and outrage on social media.

Alia Bhatt wrote, “The news from Pahalgam is heartbreaking. Innocent lives lost. Tourists, families, people who were just... living. Seeking beauty. Seeking peace. And now there's only grief. And the unbearable weight of it.”

Actor Anushka Sharma wrote on Instagram, “Heartbroken to hear about the cold-blooded terror attack on innocent people in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Heartfelt prayers and condolences to their families. This is a heinous attack that will never be forgotten.”
