New Delhi: Since the release of the Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna starrer 'Animal' in December 2023, it has sparked diverse reactions from audiences and critics alike. The film, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, received a mixed bag of reviews, with some praising its intensity while others criticised its toxic portrayal. Among the many aspects of the film that stirred discussion was Rashmika Mandanna's performance, particularly her dialogues.

In a recent appearance on Neha Dhupia's talk show 'No Filter Neha,' Rashmika Mandanna addressed the trolling she faced over the Karwa Chauth scene in 'Animal.' She expressed her discomfort with online trolling, especially when it targets women's bodies. She said, “I don’t like people trolling women on their bodies.. as long as that’s not the case and they’re trolling me about my films, cinema, my face in the film when I say the dialogue… I know how the performance was. I have done the performance five months ago.”

The actress reflected on the difference between the positive reception on set and the subsequent online backlash. She said, "The Karwa Chauth scene which was a nine-minute long scene, and while doing the scene, people on the set loved it. They were clapping and felt it was done so well. But the trailer came out and I was trolled so much for that one particular dialogue from the same scene. So I thought, I did the 9-minute long scene and everyone on the set liked it."

Rashmika added, "But people now are trolling me for the same. So am I living in a bubble? Like, are people not gonna like this scene? Because you know what you’ve shot, but people don’t know. People just know that like those 10 seconds."

'Animal' emerged as a commercial success, crossing the Rs 900 crore mark worldwide. Apart from Rashmika Mandanna and Ranbir Kapoor, the movie featured an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Sidhant Karnick, Triptii Dimri, and Bobby Deol.
