New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut, who was the host of Poonam Pandey’s reality show 'Lock Upp', has reacted to the news of Pandey’s demise. The official Instagram handle of Poonam Pandey, on Friday, announced about her death. The statement states that the actor died due to cervical cancer.  


Kangana Kangana took to her Instagram stories and wrote: "This is so sad. Losing a young woman to cancer is a catastrophe. Om Shanti.” 


Actor Karanvir Bohra, who was a participant on Lock Upp with Poonam, told India Forums that he met her 10 days ago. “I am still in disbelief. I just met her ten days ago,” he was quoted as saying by India Forums. 


He also took to Twitter and wrote, “I’m still in disbelief #PoonamPandey I pray this news is not true 🙏🏼” 


Karan Kundrra, who worked with Poonam on Lock Upp told Zoom Entertainment, “Oh my god! I have no idea about this. How did it happen? It is very sad and heartbreaking news. I just need to call some people now.”  


Actor Aly Goni also offered his condolences and shared, “Rest in peace poonam 💔🙏🏼 #poonampandey.” 


The statement on Poonam’s Instagram handle read, “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.” 


Poonam’s PR team told ABP Live that the "news is true" and the actor passed away in Kanpur. 


Her PR team also said, “We received a call from her family/ team in the morning that she is no more, we are also trying to reach her family but unfortunately we haven't been able to reach them which is why we are not releasing an official statement. As of now all we know is she is no more and her body is at the moment in UP.”
