Madhuri Dixit, along with her husband, Dr. Shriram Madhav Nene, invites viewers into their sea-facing apartment, which harmonises art and technology seamlessly. Situated on the 53rd floor, the residence serves as a warm haven that “blends contemporary aesthetics with a minimalist undertone, emphasising straight lines, clean forms, and a sober palette.”

“As you can see, I have a lot of Husainji’s paintings in my house. I remember he had said, "meri ek dil ki khwaish hai ke main aapka ghar ek museum banaun,” Madhuri Dixit shares as she opens up her exquisite Mumbai home.

The 5,500-square-foot space, designed by Apoorva Shroff of Lyth Design, fulfills the actor’s cherished dream of “having a husband, kids, and a house where you feel comfortable, cosy and loved.’’ Madhuri describes the home’s ambiance as one that “evokes calm, clarity, and comfort.”

In an interview with Architectural Digest India, Madhuri noted, “Everything about the house is uncluttered; it’s straight lines… beautiful yet artistic.” Dr. Nene echoed similar sentiments, stating that their approach to contemporary design aligns closely.

With a pianoforte and various guitars scattered throughout, Madhuri and Dr. Nene revealed their home reflects their shared passion for music, calling themselves a “musical family” that frequently comes together to play and perform.

Discussing her home’s decor, highlighted by works from the legendary modernist painter, Madhuri said, “Husainji wanted to paint the walls of my home, but I objected on the account of moving, so he painted me some of his finest works.”

Maqbool Fida Husain, one of the founders of the Bombay Progressive Artists’ Group in the 1940s, dedicated several vivid pieces exclusively to Dixit, which now grace her home’s walls.

Husain’s art adds vibrancy to various parts of the house, and Madhuri detailed the entrance foyer, where a console by Vikram Goyal’s Viya Home is accentuated by Husain’s auspicious Ganesha paintings.

The master bedroom, offering a spectacular view of Mumbai’s seafront, is another highlight. “This is the first thing I see every morning; it’s very peaceful,” Madhuri said. The publication noted that Shroff opted for a “neutral interior palette that complements the homeowners’ vibrant personalities.” For Madhuri and Dr. Nene, the design centers around “simplicity”—a timeless framework that embodies the essence of home.
