New Delhi: After stepping away from the spotlight for nine years, Imran Khan is now again a fixture on the internet, with fresh interviews popping every now and then. In a recent interview, Imran Khan talked about his girlfriend Lekha Washington, including details on how they both actively seek out opportunities for self-improvement and support one another. Imran exemplified a forward-thinking perspective on romantic partnerships throughout his conversation.

Imran Khan said, “Lekha and I entered into our relationship consciously and willfully. The idea is that we are both seeking to evolve, grow and heal and be the best, strongest versions of ourselves. It is an imperfect journey full of bumps and pitfalls and can we consciously support and empower each other through it? And, she's all heart and I value that tremendously. There are so many aspects of how she engages that I admire and that I aspire to myself. I want to be more like that myself."

Imran Khan Opens Up About Divorce
Imran previously tied the knot with Avantika Malik in 2011. But in 2019, they finalised their divorce. Talking about the divorce, the actor agreed that it was “gut wrenching”.
Imran Khan explains his thoughts on divorce and how he came to the decision to dissolve his marriage. “I don't have a sense of that shame and stigma around it. It was ultimately a choice that I made because I understood that we were in a place where we were not empowering and enabling each other to be the strongest, best versions of ourselves. Which can happen. Over long-term relationships, you start to get into patterns that may not be the healthiest,” the actor said.
He continued, “In order for both of us to thrive, we needed to take a very difficult call. It is not easy. It is gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching but ultimately it has been instrumental in becoming healthier and stronger.”
Imran Khan also questioned the traditional view that marriage and other long-term connections should be unbreakable bonds that cannot be altered or renegotiated. He said, "I don't feel that there is anything wrong with people changing the status of their relationships. The idea of two people binding themselves to each other for life without question without ever the option of alteration or renegotiation. If you're happy or healthy and you're empowering each other, amazing and fantastic. If you are not then absolutely change the contract. That's how I tend to view it."
