New Delhi: Imran Khan has revealed the reason behind his separation from ex-wife Avantika Malik. In a recent interview with India Today, the actor explained that he doesn't want to add to the gossip surrounding the issue but shared that he was dealing with internal struggles, which affected the sustainability of their relationship.
Imran Khan talks about his divorce with Avantika
During the interview, Imran said, “Without going too much into that part, because I'm hesitant to add a lot of fuel to the gossip fire, but as I was dealing with all of this baggage and all my internal struggle, I did find that my marriage and my relationship were not helping any of that.”
He further continued, “In an ideal, healthy dynamic between two people, you are both making each other better, healthier, stronger, and supporting each other to be the healthiest, best, strongest version. We were not in that place.”

Imran and Avantika's relationship
Avantika tied the knot with Imran in 2011, and they have a daughter named Imara. Rumors of their separation began circulating around 2019, although neither Imran nor Avantika publicly commented on it at the time. Avantika, however, hinted at the separation through her social media posts. In 2021, she shared a post about feeling 'stuck' and finding comfort in the 'darkest nights.' Last year, it was reported that Imran and Avantika had decided to go their separate ways.
Imran Khan's Bollywood career
Imran Khan made his acting debut in 2008 with "Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na," alongside Genelia D'Souza. His last release was 'Katti Batti,' co-starring Kangana Ranaut, which did not perform well at the box office. Imran had disclosed that he was planning a comeback with a spy series on Disney+ Hotstar, but the project was ultimately canceled.
