New Delhi: Ayushmann Khurrana's next film, co-starring Ananya Panday, ‘Dream Girl 2’ is ready to hit the theatres today. Raaj Shandilyaa returns to direct this follow-up to his 2019 film ‘Dream Girl’. Thanks to the advance booking and positive word of mouth, the film has a chance to repeat the success of the first film at the box office. Nushratt Bharuccha, who had a lead role in the first film, recently voiced her dissatisfaction with the director for not hiring her in the sequel. Now, Ayushmann Khurrana also opened up about the same.
Nushrratt Bharuccha, who starred in ‘Dream Girl’, has been replaced by Ananya Panday in the sequel. In a recent interview, Ayushmann discussed Nushratt replacing Ananya in the sequel.
The actor was asked about his feelings towards Ananya Panday being paired alongside him in an interview with Indian Express. He said, “This is an organic sequel to Dream Girl. We had to cast a different film, and Ananya fit the bill. I think she is very spunky and adds value to the film. The way she has taken the accent in the film, the Mathura accent, is very commendable. It was fun working with her and I would love to work with her in the future as well.”
Ananya Panday's age difference from his own was another topic of interest, but the actor had nothing to say. Ayushmann said, “Mere se bade bade actors ka age difference aur bhi zyada hai.”
‘Dream Girl 2’ is a comedy-drama starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa. Release in theatres has been pushed back multiple times, but now it is set to hit the theatres on August 25, 2023.
