New Delhi: Ayushmann Khurrana will return in the follow-up to the critically acclaimed film 'Dream Girl'. In the first part, he co-starred with Nushrratt Bharuccha. However, Ananya Panday is cast instead of her in the sequel. In a recent interview, Nushrratt discussed her replacement in ‘Dream Girl 2.’ Meanwhile, the actress is gearing up for her upcoming film ‘Akelli’. Interestingly, Dream Girl 2’ and ‘Akelli’ are releasing on the same day.
When asked whether she had seen the trailer of ‘Dream Girl 2’, Nushrratt told ETimes, “I have watched it and I think it’s exactly in the right space. It’s good and what they do best in comedy. And I really hope that for Ayushmann, for Ananya, for Raj sir and everybody, this film does really well.”
She spoke about her disappointment with being replaced in the film. She said, “I was a part of Dream Girl 1 and I love that whole team. I terribly miss working with them. But why they didn’t cast me in Dream Girl 2, I think only they can answer. I don’t know, there is no logic and there is no answer to it. But why didn’t they cast me? I am a human being, so of course it hurts. And of course it feels unfair. But I get it, it is their decision. Cool, no problem.”
Nushrratt Bharuccha’s film ‘Akelli’ is a dramatisation of real-life events that centre on the protagonist's struggle for survival. Pranay Meshram, the director, is making his directorial debut with this flick. The trailer of the movie was out a week ago, and it looked riveting and compelling. The film will also be available on the same day as ‘Dream Girl 2’ — August 25.
Bharuccha said in response to the box office clash between 'Akelli' and 'Dream Girl 2', "I didn’t know my film was going to be released on the same day as Dream Girl 2."
