Diljit Dosanjh Stands Firm On Releasing 'Punjab'95' Without Cuts: 'Hope Some Solution Will Come'

Diljit Dosanjh and director Honey Trehan stand firm on releasing 'Punjab'95' without cuts amid CBFC controversy.

New Delhi: There have been many postponements in the release of Diljit Dosanjh's much-anticipated film Punjab'95 owing to persistent problems with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). After originally recommending 120 edits to the picture, the CBFC has voiced strong opposition to Honey Trehan's directorial effort. In spite of all this, Diljit is still very much in favour of the unedited version of the film.

Diljit voiced his worries over the movie's possible Indian release during an Instagram Live session, stating, "I hope the film gets released in India soon. I will only back a film if it is released in its entirety, uncut. I will attend if the picture is released uncut; else, it is of little consequence."

Diljit stressed that the film's effect and message would be lessened if it were released with modifications. In agreement with Diljit, director Honey Trehan said, "Chaddiyaan kallan. Panjab'95 will not have my name as a director too if there will be any cut. I don't support the unreasonable and politically coloured demands of cbfc. I stand by my film and by my team. I will never let down their faith in me. Justice will prevail soon and I hope the world sees the uncut film soon. Immense respect for Jaswant Singh Khalra ji's martyrdom".

About 'Punjab'95’

The storyline of Punjab '95 revolves on Jaswant Singh Khalra, a Sikh rights activist who devoted his life to bringing attention to the extrajudicial murders of Sikh youngsters by the Punjab Police in the early 1990s, as well as human rights in general.

'Punjab'95,' which is produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP, also has important parts for Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, and Suvinder Vicky.

Diljit had already announced the film's uncut version's worldwide premiere on February 7, 2025, across various countries (except India), and posted the teaser of the film on January 17.
