Dhanashree Verma On Divorce From Yuzvendra Chahal: ‘Negativity Has Never Bothered Me’

Choreographer Dhanashree Verma opens up about her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, how she dealt with public scrutiny, and her focus on self-growth.

Choreographer and digital creator Dhanashree Verma has remained in the public spotlight ever since her marriage to Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal hit a rough patch. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, separated in 2022 and officially got divorced in March 2025, following a mutual consent petition filed in February.

Dhanashree on her divorce

In a recent interview with Bombay Times, Dhanashree opened up about the emotional toll of public judgment and how she’s managed to remain strong throughout the process. Speaking about dealing with scrutiny, she said:“It doesn’t bother me at all! I have surrounded myself with great inner strength, and I am so dedicated that my focus has always been on my work, as I have a lot of responsibilities. I have guarded myself and built myself so strong that I just focus on my work, which will speak for everything. The negativity and public criticism have never really bothered me since day one, and it will never bother me ever.”

The 28-year-old influencer highlighted that she prefers to filter out the "noise" that does not add to her personal or professional growth. By staying true to her goals, Dhanashree says she has remained grounded despite the distractions.

On public perception of her

When asked if public perception impacted her personal well-being, she responded:“I have been working on myself even more now. Even though I have always been a hardworking person, I have now completely changed my lifestyle and am focusing on self-love, inner strength, discipline, exercise, good food, and surrounding myself with people who look up to me. I want to be a part of a journey that inspires people around me.”

Dhanashree and Yuzvendra filed a joint petition for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, 2025, in family court. Their marriage officially ended when the Bombay High Court granted their divorce in March this year.
