Bhagyashree Opens Up About Salman Khan’s Playful Side While Shooting Maine Pyar Kiya: ‘I Thought He Was Flirting’

Bhagyashree, who became an overnight sensation with her acting debut opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989, recently opened up about her experience working with Salman. In a recent interview, the actress shared an amusing incident from the filming of the iconic song Dil Deewana, revealing that she initially thought Salman was flirting with her.

Bhagyashree talks about working with Salman Khan

Recalling the moment, Bhagyashree said, “Salman came and sat right next to me and started singing the song into my ear. He had always been such a gentleman on set and so nice to me that I couldn’t understand. Well, it just seemed like crossing the line over flirting and I said, ‘Why is he doing this?’" she shared in an interview on Kovid Gupta Films’ YouTube channel.

She further revealed, “He would follow me around and keep singing the song and I was like ‘What’s happening here?’ He finally took me to the side and he said, ‘I know who you are in love with.’" When Bhagyashree asked him what he meant, Salman mentioned her then-boyfriend, Himalaya. “He said, ‘I know about Himalaya. Why don’t you call him here?’ I was like, ‘Oh my god! This can’t be happening,’" she added.

Bhagyashree and Himalaya were dating during the shoot of Maine Pyar Kiya and tied the knot in 1990, soon after the film’s release. Reflecting on that time, Bhagyashree revealed that Salman and Sooraj Barjatya played a crucial role in her wedding.

She shared, “From that moment onwards, there was a special connection that I shared with Salman because he was like my buddy who knew everything and he knew all the secrets. So, when we got married, Salman and Sooraj ji were the people from my side because my family didn’t attend my wedding."
