Babil Khan Says 'It Will Be A Futile Attempt' To Imitate His Father Irrfan Khan

New Delhi: Late actor Irrfan Khan's elder son Babil Khan is one of the industry's newcomers. Brimming with energy and humility, Babil has a sense of groundedness to his character that he most probably inherits from his late father. The young starkid is also weighed down by the pressure of inheriting the acting skills of his thespian father, who made a mark for himself in the industry as one of the most critically acclaimed actors, hailed for his natural style of acting.

Babil Khan made his acting debut with the Netflix film 'Qala' opposite Tripti Dimri in 2022. The young actor chose an unconventional film like 'Qala' to make his debut, unlike other starkids who want all the glitz and glamour in their first movie itself. Despite the protagonist being played by Tripti, Babil made his screen presence felt and stood out in several scenes, remarkably. The actor also bagged the Best Debut Award of the year at several award functions.

In an exclusive conversation with ABP Live, Babil Khan talks about the bond that he shared with his father, the kind of cinema that he wants to do, his acclaimed fashion sense and much more.

Here are a few excerpts from the interview:

1. How do you look upto your father as an actor? Do you wish to tread on the same path that he did or you desire to do something different?

No, absolutely not. I definitely want to do something different. As far as looking upto him as an actor is concerned, jab aapka father wo insan hai jiske baare me puri duniya wah wah karti hai (when your father is a person whom the whole world appreciates), then it becomes quite difficult to decide because you are seeing him live a life that reflected in his performances. Why I look upto him as an actor is because he never took himself seriously and he always kept his humanitarian side ahead of his profession and fame. He worked on this particular aspect of himself and let it reflect in his work. So that is something that I would definitely like to tread on. But as an actor and an acting style, I don't think anybody can imitate or replicate him, and it will be a very futile attempt to even try.

2. Tell us your favourite film of your father.

This is a very difficult question to answer but I guess for me, it's 'Paan Singh Tomar.' This is because I saw the entire process and because of that, the film holds a special place for me.

3. How much do you credit your parents for bringing you up in an unconventional way and playing a role in making you reach where you are today?

As a human being, completely. The values taught by my parents are everything to me.

4. Babil Khan is the new fashion icon of Bollywood. Where do you take inspiration from and what is fashion to you?

For me, fashion is something where you allow your individuality to be projected in your personality. It is an outcome of introspection and learning about your true self which ultimately reflects in your style.

Yes, I would love to.
