Athiya Shetty, KL Rahul Are Not Expecting Their First Child: Report

New Delhi: Rumours that actor Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty and her husband, cricket player KL Rahul, are expecting a child soon began after Shetty made some comments on a dancing reality show. However, now a source close to the family has issued a clarification about the same.
Suniel Shetty on becoming a 'nana'
Suniel Shetty talked about becoming a "nana" during a recent episode of ‘Dance Deewane’, the dance reality show on which he judges alongside actor Madhuri Dixit Nene.
Suniel responded to Bharti Singh, the host of the reality show, when she made fun of him for being a "nana." He said, “Yes, next season when I come (on the show), I will be walking on the stage like a nana”.
Rumours that Athiya and KL Rahul are expecting their first child together started after he made this statement.
Despite the fact that neither Athiya nor KL Rahul have addressed the pregnancy rumours, we now know that she is not pregnant.
Athiya Shetty is not pregnant
“There is no truth in the buzz. Suniel’s nana remark was said in a jest and in a very informal way. His remarks have been misinterpreted by all,” a source told Hindustan Times.
“It was a fun conversation, Suniel said it as a joke. Now, even he is surprised how his comment has been perceived by everyone. In fact, he didn’t want this buzz at all. It was unintentional. Several people haven’t seen the whole clip and are just assuming based on the reactions by social media users. He is shocked by all this,” the report quoted HT as saying.
“They both are happily married, and enjoying this phase of life. They want to expand their family at some point of life, but they are enjoying this phase of life. At the moment, there is no truth to the pregnancy speculation. They will announce the news and share their happiness with everyone, as and when it happens. The family will come out and share -- because that is the nature of the Shetty family. For now, they just want the joke to be taken as a joke, and not seriously”. The report added.
In a private ceremony held at her father Suniel Shetty's farmhouse in Khandala on January 23, 2023, the pair tied the knot in front of their close friends and family. In January, Athiya and KL Rahul commemorated their first wedding anniversary.
